Pet Loss
The Heartbreak of a Pet is Often Downplayed or Ignored…
Because they were never “just a pet”.
The relationship we share with a pet can be one of the most meaningful relationships in our lives. They become a part of our families, our routines, our homes and often our sense of comfort and companionship. They can be our best friends.
When that relationship ends, the grief can be profound. It can hurt worse then losing a human.
Unfortunately, pet loss is also one of the losses that others may unintentionally minimize. You may hear things like “You can always get another one”, or feel as though you’re expected to move forward before you’re ready.
Your relationship mattered. Your loss matters too.
The Pet Loss Grief Recovery Program is a structured, action-based program designed specifically to help you address the emotional pain and unfinished feelings connected to the loss of a beloved pet. This program applies the principles and action steps of The Grief Recovery Method® specifically to the loss of a pet.
The goal isn’t to forget your pet or diminish the relationship you shared. It’s to address the emotional pain surrounding the loss so that your memories don’t have to carry heartbreak.
Moving forward doesn’t mean leaving them behind.
This Program May Be Right For You If…
-
Whether the loss was recent or happened years ago, you may still be carrying emotional pain connected to the relationship.
-
Questions, guilt, regret, or thoughts about what you might have done differently can make pet loss difficult.
-
Do you feel your pain is minimized or misunderstood?
People around you may care deeply but not understand the significance of your relationship or the depth of your grief.
-
Recovery isn’t about replacing the pet you lost. Addressing the grief associated with the relationship can help you make future decisions without asking another animal to replace the one who died.
-
Sometimes the pain surrounding the loss becomes so strong - that it overshadows years of love, companionship and positive memories.
-
You may continually revisit the final days, medical decisions, circumstances surrounding the loss or things you wish had happened differently.
