My Story

My path to becoming a Grief Recovery Method Specialist® began with my own search for answers. After years of searching for the right support to help my daughter with grief from a move and then shortly after – the death of her father - my first husband, the misconceptions I had learned about managing grief, such as “keep busy”, “grieve alone”, and “it just takes time” - were not helping.

Not helping at all.

I knew some of our family struggles were related to grief despite everyone labeling it as the “teen phase”, “addiction” or “mental illness”. I knew my child, I knew myself and I didn’t give up on my search for grief recovery.

During this time, I lost my father and realized how unequipped I was to help my children, my husband or myself from the impact it had on us. My Fathers death became too much to handle with all my unresolved past losses combined, and I needed help.

Discovering the Grief Recovery Method® gave me practical tools and a structured approach that changed the way I understood and responded to grief. The program changed my life. After 25 years working in Information Technology and process improvement, the transition I went through was so life changing – it became my mission to help as many people as possible find the same relief from those feelings of complete helplessness. I still remember the feeling of my shoulders lifting after finishing the Grief Recovery Method® program. I traded in my career of helping peoples lives through technology and efficiency – to helping peoples lives with relief from grief.

My approach to grief recovery is simple: to be a heart with ears. I believe in listening without judgment, comparison, criticism or analysis. Everyone experiences their grief at 100%, and no two people, relationships, experiences or losses are the same.

Grief has touched my life in many forms - not just the deaths of people and cherished pets, but divorces, psychological and physical trauma, living with addiction, financial loss, major life transitions, and changes in relationships with people who are still living. Whatever has brought you here, no loss is too small or too complicated to matter, and you never need to be ashamed of what you are grieving.

As a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist®, I guide people through structured, action-based programs while providing a comfortable, private and supportive environment where you can be honest about your loss and the emotions connected to it. My role is not to tell you how you should feel or compare your experience to someone else's. It is to listen, guide you through the Grief Recovery Institutes programs, and help you learn practical actions you can use to address unresolved communications.

Your loss is your own. Your feelings matter. And you deserve to be heard.

You are not alone – let’s do this together. From My Heart to Yours.

Companions

I love animals. Especially “Nugget” our family Saint Bernard. Over the years my family has opened our home to a dog, 3 cats and 2 rabbits that needed to be re-homed. We currently have a dog, 2 cats, and a crested gecko.
